چکیده

The 2004 Harvest Survey of Canadian canola (1) had higher than average chlorophyll content due to a cooler than normal season combined with an early damaging frost resulting in immature seed. As a result, chlorophyll levels in many No. 1 Canada Canola (1CC) export shipments increased to over 30 mg/kg (2). Dockage has been suspected in contributing to the chlorophyll levels in canola cargoes but until this study, the extent was unknown. Dockage separated from export samples was tested for chlorophyll using the ISO method. Chlorophyll in the dockage ranged from 67 to 114 mg/kg. With dockage removed, the chlorophyll level in 1CC export samples was approximately 3.5 mg/kg lower.

Comparison between Canadian Canola Harvest and Export Surveys

Parameters, such as oil, protein, glucosinolates, chlorophyll content and fatty acid composition, were determined using reference methods for both harvest survey samples and Canadian Canola exports. Canola harvest survey and export data were assessed to evaluate if canola harvest survey data can be extrapolated to predict the quality of the Canadian canola exports. There were some differences i...

Detection of Leptosphaeria maculans and Leptosphaeria biglobosa Causing Blackleg Disease in Canola from Canadian Canola Seed Lots and Dockage.

Blackleg, caused by Leptosphaeria maculans, is a major threat to canola production in Canada. With the exception of China, L. maculans is present in areas around the world where cruciferous crops are grown. The pathogen can cause trade barriers in international canola seed export due to its potential risk as a seed contaminant. The most recent example is China restricting canola seeds imported ...

How Salicylic Acid Modulate Photosynthetic Pigments, Yield and Yield Components of Canola Plant

In this experiment, the possibility of growth promoting of exogenous salicylic acid during two growth stages on chlorophyll content, yield and yield components of canola plant was investigated. For the purpose of improving above traits, salicylic acid was applied in four concentrations (0, 100, 200 and 400 µM) during two different growing stages (first time; when temperature was close to 7-10 °...

Effects of glauconitic sandstone on growth, nutrients content and some physiological traits of canola plants grown under two differents pH levels

Glauconite is a micaceous mineral that could be source of potassium. The aim of this study was evaluation of the effects of glauconitic sandstone and potential of iron relase and toxicity in case of using as a potassium fertilizer for canola plants. The plants cultivation experiments were carried out in growth chamber in sand culture with completely randomized design as factorial. The first fac...
